Privacy & security
Your inbox stays yours.
Tater is designed to protect people without turning private communication into a surveillance product.
What happens on your device
- The browser extension scans opened email locally in your webmail.
- Risk analysis, red flags, and plain-English explanations are generated on your device.
- Tell Someone summaries are built from metadata — not the full email body.
What leaves your device
- By default, full email bodies are not sent to Tater servers.
- Optional dashboard sync is opt-in and limited to metadata (risk level, sender, subject, flags).
- Privacy-safe product events may be logged locally for future analytics — never email content.
What a guardian can see
Early access- Orange and red risk events — when Tater Family early access is enabled.
- Risk level, sender, subject, and why Tater flagged the message.
- Attempted risky actions (clicked, replied, etc.) when applicable.
- Full message content only if the protected user chooses to share it.
What a guardian cannot see
- Unrestricted access to the entire inbox.
- Every email by default.
- Full message content automatically.
When message content is shared
- Full content sharing requires explicit user action or a clearly disclosed opt-in workflow.
- Tell Someone summaries intentionally exclude the full email body.
Data sales
- Tater does not sell personal information. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
- We do not build an advertising profile from your email.
